How HostingHunt works

A match you
can inspect.

We compare specific hosting plans against your requirements. A provider's reputation or affiliate payment cannot override a hard requirement.

1. Start with the project

The finder reads common workload, budget, management, panel and capacity terms. It is a rule-based interpreter, not a general-purpose AI consultant. Review the filters: ambiguous language, version-specific needs and specialized requirements can require manual confirmation.

2. Separate requirements from preferences

Required capabilities must all fit the same plan. Preferences affect ordering, but do not exclude a plan. An exclusion means the feature must not be included in the base configuration; optional software you choose not to install is allowed.

Self-installable software is not the same as provider-managed software. Panel subscriptions are kept separate from hosting because they require an additional server.

3. Make uncertainty visible

Each result shows whether it meets the selected requirements, needs verification, or conflicts with the brief. Missing facts are unknown, not a yes. Source URLs and recorded dates accompany plan facts. Records older than 90 days need verification; a recent date does not guarantee that today's price or stock is unchanged.

Catalog coverage is incomplete. We do not claim to list every hosting provider or certify every supported software version. A server that can install your framework may still need sizing, deployment and performance testing.

4. Compare the actual cost

We separate the monthly-equivalent base price, required priced extras, renewal rate, payment commitment and upfront bill. Budget matching uses the selected currency without an assumed exchange rate. Documented costs are before tax and within included usage allowances; overages and optional services are extra.

When renewal, licensing or the complete configuration cost is unknown, we do not label it a confirmed budget match. Always verify the final quote and terms at checkout.

5. Keep commercial links separate

Some outbound links may earn a commission. Partner status is not an input to the matching rules. Ordering prioritizes hard compatibility, then stated preferences and comparable recorded prices. We do not sell a universal winner position.

6. Treat research as evidence, not a guarantee

Provider pages include historical research notes. Plan pricing comes from the same catalog as the finder and comparison. Independent benchmarks, where cited, apply to the tested plan, region and date—not every plan a provider sells. We do not infer measured speed or latency from geography.
